I recently found someone that was studying the development of children on Twitter. He goes by Dr. Ted on Twitter. He mostly focuses on the importance of teaching young boys to express emotion, but he also posts about how violent movies are harmful to children's development. I find some of the things he posts helpful because every statement he makes is factual, to the point, and related to childhood development. Furthermore, I find these tweets interesting and reading them makes me want to research further about the topics that he brings up. Therefore, I think his tweets are helpful to my own research because they show me a summarized version of ideas relating to childhood development, especially movies and aggression, which I can further research. In other words, they have given me little starting points that I can branch out from to find more complex research sources. The main assessment that I have gotten from viewing Dr. Ted's Tweets, is that it is harmful for young children to watch violent movies because they cause the children to express socially aggressive behavior. He also makes a point to try and persuade parents to raise their children in healthy environments away from violent movies and other violent media. Furthermore, instead of just telling parents to do things without explanation, he states why they should avoid letting their children watch violent movies in a plain, understandable fashion. Which shows that he is logical. Interestingly, Dr. Ted seems to have a lot of experience with childhood development based on his level of education, work, and published works. Though he only tweets about the topic I am doing my essay on sometimes, I have found those few tweets to be informative and reputable. So, I would say that his tweets have given me a good starting point for the rest of my research.
