Persuasive Genre Analysis

The rhetorical situation of the star wars Lego advertisement is the exigence of wanting more people to buy Legos, and the medium of a visual text-less advertisement. The audience is probably made up of Star Wars fans who like Legos and children who like Legos. The purpose is to persuade more people to buy Legos and to entertain them at the same time. The mode is visual and the media is digital. The rhetorical appeal used is pathos because the ad is made to be funny and entertaining. The style and design is simple and wordless, which makes it more child friendly. If I were to re-mediate this I would make the Lego Logo bigger because I feel that it is too small. Also, I would turn it into a funny commercial where Han tried to woo Leia, but he would be unsuccessful and she would choose to be with the little tree creature instead. I would also include less blank space because I feel that there is too much even though it is supposed to convey the loneliness that Han is feeling because of his rejection. I would keep the media the same because the audience is younger, and, therefore, is more prone to like digital media.
